Wordplay comprises the clue's first three words

All done apart from 36. IRE-- Fairy-bluebirds flying in cut-off area.

Nothing in BRB apart from 2 proper names, neither of which seems to fit the clue since they both mean Peace. Peri might figure, but why?

It comes before 'puella' in the bird family (anag of shortened word + 'in').

Gosh! Thanks, drxx. None of the bits are in BRB, which surely should have been alerted. (Not in Collins , ODE or my ancient OED either.)

The name with the 'peace' connection is in Chambers - could simply have gone with that (but it's a pretty bird}.

Kirky, in 6d your M is incorrect . Def. is "out-of-date studies"
In 24d, your first E is a clash and H is incorrect.
