Am I correct in thinking that 27 across - Authority for queen in old king's nest site has a chess piecery answer?

And that gives me a Norwegian answer to 23 down - Large request to look at capital. Is that right?

Again, I fail to understand how the cryptic bit points to the answer.

we don't all have the paper,it helps if you give the number of letters and any letters you have.
Oslo seems good for the 2nd clkue.

Most of don't have the crossword to look at. So having yhe clue and no. of letters is a big help.

If you mean Oslo that looks OK. Out Size = OS (large) +LO = see.

should have said - os = large(OutSize in clothing sizes,i think) Lo = look(lo and behold).
can you give more info for the other clue?

could be Rookery, in which case the Chess reference applies.
