Have completed the grid apart from the top line.
The endgame is a bit ludicrous. You are supposed to copy
1 of the letters from each column to the top line thus giving the title of the puzzle. There are up to 13 different letters per column and 12 columns.

That isn't what the preamble says, in particular not the copying. It tells you to enter 'a single letter from each column' into the cell at the top.

Well, that narrows things down a bit. Are we to conclude that E and O are the two required letters in cols 3 and 10, or am I barking up the wrong tree?
