Like others I'm struggling with my LOI, 17a C?S?.
Hints welcome!

17a: definition "injury" (slang). It's a 6-letter word for "near the ribs" with 2 letters removed ("a large cut").

I'd never seen that usage, but it's similar to "damage" which is fairly common in US.

Ive got answers for 23d and 25a but cant parse them ….any help appreciated so i can move on !

As many others have said, this started off quickly and simply with a scattering of write ins across the grid. Within an 45 mins I’d begun to slow (right) down and finally ground to halt.

About to move on to the weekend i cryptic and would love some help with my remaining: 8, 13, 16a as well as 4 & 11d

FOI 9a and (so far) COD is the 2/19d combination which induced much groaning when the penny dropped.

23d is single letter abbreviation for King inside (welcomed) by the ‘banks’ of Shanghai followed by another single letter indicated - def is last word of the clue

25a is single letter abb for Wife, then a 4 letter word meaning case containing ‘special’ and then ends with Turtleneck ‘primarily’

Hi Paul, 8a def is someone onboard - 4 letter friend the 3 letter piles. Not heard of the def myself but….
