Just wondered why it seems to be ok to give the actual answer for the Eye crossword but not for the Guardian Prize and Everyman (which is also a prize one) rather than just giving hints? Possibly others but they are the only ones I do. Not particularly bothered really, just curious.
Sealionsteve, it's merely a convention that the Guardian/Observer puzzles almost always have hints rather than answers. It's just evolved over the years. There is nothing to stop anyone asking for - and getting - an answer on those crosswords. People who're new to the Guardian/Observer puzzles seem to appreciate being helped towards the solution.
Thanks for the explanation, Malone. One thing I like about the Eye crossword is the way many clues make you think the answer will be a bit rude, but they only sometimes are :-)
