i don't see anything there that you can't get elsewhere for free.
It does bundle them into one convenient package, which is worth paying for if that's what you want.
I try not to use anything until i've given up on a clue.
each to his own - i still feel that you shouldn't be advertising a product here - wether you have anything to gain or not.
(just read thru this post and i definitly need to lighten up,or at least put a smiley at the end);-)

I've found the "Quick Solve" on this site very helpful in the past, but have given up trying to update the lexicon as it seems to accept but never publish any of my submissions. I'd have put umiak and oroko on there if I thought it'd help build a bigger free resource. Anyone else had same problem?

i think that this sites creator has moved on to bigger projects(see his twitter under 'Contact')that makes it all very existentialist.
any program like "Quick Solve" is only as good as its database which is not being updated.
(note to self - lighten up already, again)

Ummm....

I'm just recommending a product I've found useful.I'm only mentioning it because it is so powerful if you look at its features. After 30 years of solving I'd like to think I'm a bit of an expert.

If you search previous posts or Google Problem Chimp and TEA, I sure you'll find I've either never or seldom mentioned this product.

The Anne Stibbs book however is even cheaper at £6.49 and does I think provide an invaluable tool that definitely is STILL not beaten by anything on the internet.

Look at everyone else's recommendations on Amazon in case you think I am on a commission or something.

Problem Chimp,
i was being a bit of a tit there for the sake of being a bit of a tit.Lots of people here recommend stuff,Chambers for example(£24.99 from a store owned by me)they too, like you,are corporate shills. :-)

i think almost any valid question asked will get a correct answer and perhaps more importantly an explanation, books and apps and even stan, will never do that.

Shame it's all come down to the best crossword-solving sites - what about the folk who aren't so computer literate? Personal rule - brain, Chambers, Thesaurus and book of lists first. Computer and this site useful but last resort! And I don't send it in if I've pinched an answer!!

If you have to plough through two yards of dictionaries or trawl the depths of cyber-space to confirm that the answer you have is in fact some word last uttered 500 years ago, don't you think it's all getting a bit silly. Crosswords can be made challenging enough without being that obscure. Hey, they're supposed to be fun.

Point with this is, I find it a learning experience as well as a challenge. I was fine with Chambers before finding this site, but would not bother starting if I didn't have a way to check out words like kokodyl and epyllion. I eschew books of lists where possible, but don't judge anyone who uses them or Thesaurus, which is not as informative as the lexicon or interaction with others on eg this site imho.
