Thanks to all who entered this week’s challenge. Hopefully some fun was had.
Happy to see Fiery popping in and that Raffles is back for more.
A tough one to judge and if you had a favourite clue that I’ve not mentioned below, please do feel free to give it some love and appreciation!
Liked Chris’ idea of a green haystack in Ireland, as with Tyke@11. Also liked Amej’s Rick Astley, Aristo’s Nantucket, Geting’s AABBA rhyme scheme and “I’m Eric” references.
Geting@23 also wins best limerick-styled clue for the riddle element and the references to feet, beat and Erse etc. Very nicely done.
Others on the shortlist were…
Paul@10 for puncture no pressure.
Paul@12 with the subtraction of ling.
Tyke@22 with a double lift and separate but made fair by the (almost) appearance of the answer in the clue I thought.
Ginge@30 another subtraction, but the Clerihew reference is very clever and with an extended definition, if not an &Lit. I also always appreciate a separate anagram indication for the bit being subtracted.
Congrats Ginge, you are the winner.
I'm akin clerihews; fresh, but not a newish arrangement (8)
So you don’t have to work it out…
(im akin clerihews)* - (a newish)*
Here the prizes…
