46 A has me confused:

I'm sure the answer is either FATED or FETED... but which is it? To me, the 'we're told' could equally well apply to either part of the clue!

i went with feted...

Feted, for me, too.

I went with FETED. In the absence of the second comma I would have plumped for FATED.
