Thanks to Chalicea for a most enjoyable puzzle.

Alas, there is one clue that has defeated me..

9d - Stores harvest in Perth to precede blunder (7, 2 words) ?ea?sin

It's a normal clue and I assume it's split 5,2 so "?ea?s in" with the 'blunder' being SIN. I had thought REAPS IN but then REAP would have to mean "harvest" in Perth, which it doesn't, plus it doesn't mean "stores"

Brendan, see Chambers under "lead", intransitive verb def#4. It doesn't say that it is Scots, though.
Also, the entry for the whole phrase doesn't mention that particular definition, but I think it must be correct.

Many thanks Mattrom,

I'd thought I was missing something obvious, but it doesn't look like I am.

If you look further down, just below “lead by the nose”, you will see “lead in” (Scot) To house the harvest

Ah! Thanks, Quisling. A search on my app only returned the hyphenated version.

It is very well hidden. I’m not sure why it deserves a separate entry from “lead-in”. An odd obscurity in such a straightforward puzzle.

A pleasant puzzle from Chalicea, for which thanks to Shirley. A notch up from her usual level of difficulty.

Thanks from me, too. All the thematic elements in proper disposition in the endgame. I think Chalicea’s puzzle on another of the thematic hero’s accomplishments, the “billiard table”, was one of my early introductions to thematic puzzles. Since then I always know I’m in for a treat when she appears as a setter.

Thanks to you happy solvers. Interestingly, as is so often the case, that Scots' expression that led to some discussion was an adjustment by the editorial team. I agree I am running rather short of the thematic person's achievements - this one was his last.
