Thanks to Eclogue for an enjoyable and finely crafted puzzle, I see that the unclued entry is actually the answer to the “problem”: that is rather neat.

Perhaps those objecting to the theme of this week’s Listener on that thread had better steer clear of this week’s EV! 😉

How strange, I couldn't track down the final answer to that particular question in my 'research'. The others are all generously given in maths fora, but not that one (I wonder why?).
Of course, the partial answer is fairly obvious (I had it entered half way through the solve) and for that I'm very grateful. Thank you, Eclogue, for sparing me another dreary trudge through the numbers.

When googling on the internet I found this theme was used
in a Listener crossword. It gives the formula for the unclued entry.

Thank you, krauton - who'd have guessed this was another recycled numbers puzzle? (Yes, me too.)
I wonder if ''Eric the ...'' was inspired by the equation (the 1/2 certainly put paid to my efforts at solving it}?

SPOILER ALERT - don't open the link until you've finished the puzzle.
