Sorry, jeg, I've just realised that the A in the answer is 'one', and T is the boat's stern, last letter. ( don't parse when solving, I just stick in answers!)

Thanks, Jeg - I think the clue was clever, crafty . It took me a minute or two to investigate 'blue', I'd been thinking of razorbills and sterns.

I'd like to join those who have applauded this puzzle as a step up in difficulty from some more recent examples. I found it pretty tough but fair; all the more satisfying for having managed to complete it! Thank you, Pabulum.

I thought the relationship of victimhood with 5,6 was entirely the other way about. Especially in ‘73!
