Thanks, Jeg - I think the clue was clever, crafty . It took me a minute or two to investigate 'blue', I'd been thinking of razorbills and sterns.

I can find no trace of 5,6 being a victim of our hero.

That surprised me too, especially when you consider what 5,6 is most for.

I'd like to join those who have applauded this puzzle as a step up in difficulty from some more recent examples. I found it pretty tough but fair; all the more satisfying for having managed to complete it! Thank you, Pabulum.

I thought the relationship of victimhood with 5,6 was entirely the other way about. Especially in ‘73!
