Yes, many thanks, buddy.
Exceptionally clever, very enjoyable as the special feature slowly revealed itself.

Great puzzle. Thanks, buddy. Feeling dense about 3D and 42A though. I have the words but am missing the parse.

42 shells are ammo, sauce is an anagram indicator

3 so and so gives you two sos, then a homophone. A stretch!

Duh. 42A occurred to me the moment I posted. Thanks for the other too.

I just realized that what looked like repasts because of a printing glitch is actually repairs! No wonder I was flummoxed.

Thanks, Buddy, enjoyed the puzzle. I don't understand 35a.
I have the entry, and the original answer as BRONZE. This appears to be an anagram (flimflamming?) of 'brazen', with the A replaced by an O (nothing) ... but the rest?

I took it to mean that the flimflamming wasn’t complete because brazen and bronze mean the same thing.

I was thinking that they weren't the same alloy, but I see that Chambers has 'bronze' as an obsolete word for 'brass'. Thanks, Aristo.
