Back with a couple answers I'm struggling to parse

18d "Unruffled time for the poet (4)" - answer is EVEN

10a "The amount of head-room required by a ship before sailing (9)"
- answer is CLEARANCE, my guess would be:
CL = amount
EAR = head-room? (seems tenuous)
AN = a?
CE = before?
But that would make it an &lit with quite a few unnecessary words which seems strange

Hi Ethanjex

I think both clues are just double defs

Unruffled = even and even or eventide is a poetical word for what we call evening

Headroom = clearance and a ship needs clearance (from Customs) before leaving port
