I saw the women win the cycle sprint and their medal ceremony. They were singing along to the national anthem and, although I'm not an expert lip-reader, I swear they were singing "God save the Queen". Should someone perhaps tell them? Or maybe they're fans of Camilla.

Massive showing by USA in men 1500m.
1. Hocker (known as a fast finisher)
3. Nuguse
5. Kessler
[2. Kerr; 4. Ingebritsen]

I thought Hocker had a chance due to his great kick, but his PR going in was only 3:30.59 so I'd been sceptical of his ability to finish from a fast pace.

Not happy about women with Y chromosomes beating the hell out of women with XX exclusively.

Geeker, amazing performance by Hocker. Lowered his best mark by 3 full seconds and set an Olympic record. Wow!

And Paul, try to keep up. You are echoing ignorant comments that have already been discredited.

Paul, experience had shown that on any ethical or moral decision the IOC will be on the wrong side. I guess they decided that, following the success of mixed events in athletics, swimming and triathlon, boxing was the next frontier!

To use a crossword term (I'm American), there was some argy-bargy in a men's 5000m heat. Two principals seemed to be British and French. I have no opinion about who was at fault.

US (NBC) video here: https://www.nbcolympics.com/videos/massive-fall-mens-5000m-heat

I'm sure there's BBC footage, but I can't access that. BBC text here: https://www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/articles/cjdk5nl7nryo
