Yemen , country- Ye, an old/very old word for 'the' and Men, blokes.

That surely is [Ye] men. At least that is what I have.

Mrsalad, the clue and answer work perfectly when the wording's exact - it's ' blokes' ', leading to the plural 'men' in the answer.

Is it just me being daft or does the wordplay in 7d produce an additional S?

I am unsure about 6dn: Bullet scraped Rees-Mogg's backside off (5). I think it's "round", ie bullet, but don't get the parsing. Can anyone help? Ta.

scraped = ground
minus the last letter of rees-mogg

Grimology, it made perfect sense when I did the puzzle yesterday! It's always good to give the clue...not everyone has a copy ( or still has a copy to hand)....
