Ok puzzle, but the heather was definitely not alight. The most interesting connection for me was that, after I retired, I worked for one of the unclueds (yes, that one) for a dozen years - along with a number of other jobs.

Fred108, boy in crosswords can just be a shorthand for a diminutive male name. The idea being that youngsters tended to have them. So boy could be Jim, Ed, Tim, etc. it’s not specifically Jim, though of course Mattrom is right in this case
