Yes, that works, thanks (though would £51 billion have been better?). It would work the other way too (more than half a billion).

I would also have preferred £51 billion. I think if you’re going to use Roman numerals, it’s neater to give the actual number than the constituent parts, though I’ve seen both in the Guardian. And it’s more usual to see LB for pound (weight) than L for pound sterling, but it’s certainly in the dictionary.
