Tim Moorey is standing down from Mephisto after 30 years. My personal thanks for some great puzzles. Unlike some other long-standing compilers, Tim's standards, for this solver at least, have never slipped into the mundane.

His final offering is a mix of new clues and some old favourites. Sadly one that will remain with me forever isn't included.

I second that. Lovely way to finish, though and 1/17d (which was new to me but I suspect was actually an old favourite) was priceless.

It is several years since I last tackled Mephisto, and the overall quality had already dropped significantly by that time, but in the days of Tim Moorey, Chris Feetenby and the magnificent Mike Laws, it was a puzzle to be reckoned with.

I thank Mr Moorey for providing considerable entertainment (as well as prompting a few harumphs), and will remember in particular Mephisto 2468, wherein he included the answers HOODOO, OUI and APPRECIATE.
