Clink = clinch is def 4 in Chambers.

“Cynghanedd” is in Chambers and Collins, new to me, but I was happy to find it!

We have 16 excellent clues, submitted by 8 entrants, and some nifty comments – mostly by Paul, all of which we enjoyed – especially the banter! Fewer entries than normal, to be expected perhaps as it was quite a tricky word to clue, but the stalwarts have come through with some fantastic submissions, so thank you all.

We judged each clue using the usual criteria – good surface reading, the definition was met, how the clueing mechanism was used and, in this case, although not essential, a bonus if the injunction to attempt a rhyme was also attempted.

We liked the simplicity of Jono’s swift response@2 – beating Chrise to be the first out of the gate, although Chrise didn’t appear this time.

Paul’s @4 and @7 amused us. We liked Amej’s @10 and Geeker’s @21 straightforward anagrams, also Tyke’s @11 use of a double anagram and Geeker’s @16 both with the rhyming bonus.

But for sheer poetic ingenuity, doggedness – plus the stuffed brown envelope that arrived -

To answer Buddy, the original clue includes a “?” (a get out of jail free card if ever there was one) and I invoke “Aristo’s Law” that it’s ok to be self-deprecating.
I thought I might have been picked up on the suggestion Mab was evil, which is surely not the case.
