In the endgame when shading the five parts which make up
39 cells 3 of these cells are used twice.

Many thanks to Check. I am very fond of the composition and perform it often. Although there is considerable - and often heated - debate about the list of contributors, I think Check has correctly identified those that should be included (and excluded).

A very well constructed puzzle. Some of the extra letters were cleverly hidden. I am not overly familiar with the composition but I intend exploring further.

I'm not doing very well with this at all I'm afraid.

Can someone help me with a couple of the 4 letter ones, please ?

29a Lending to flee essential life in Rome (4)
I have V?TA VITA ? but how ? and what is the extra letter

31a Tip Earl fled to unending misery (4)
I have HEE? HEEL? again how and what is the missing letter.

A hint as to the "composition" would really help too...but I may be pushing things a bit asking for that.

31 Vital would be 'essential', remove the L to get life in Rome.

31 Hell would be misery, undending = lose the second L, insert E, earl.

The 'composition' is not at all literary or artistic, more a creation, something you could create at home.

Well, quick , yes. I have found the impostor and 5 contributors but cannot see the 2 word one. My contributors add up to 36 letters, so I am stumped for the last 3.....

Will keep at it.
