I have solved most of NW corner part from 4d.

Can I please ask about 5a?

Starts with…initials? PORTTS? Am I miles off it?

"play" is an anagram indicator for "radio"

“Starts” would be needed to indicate more than one starting letter. Here it is just “start”, so “Three to start with” yields T.
