Good morning,

My daily grind. I have solved 15a, 22a, 24a with lots of guesses and checks with no idea how the wordplay works.

It’s the same with 3d and 16d.

Can I ask for some help, even with guidance as to what “type” of clues they are?

I usually look for an anagram to get some ink on the page, but that seems to be absent.

15a Phoebe & friends were in the tv series... the weekend starts when "Fri ends"

22a old man is Sire with the outer letters of DaphnE at the start

15a read the solution as 3,4
22a Daphne’s clothing are the outside letters of Daphne, then an old term for a man
24a a three letter abbreviation for a day, around (tours) O (round)

24a Mon is the day O the last letter /destination of apollO

For example 8a, where is the definition?

Are there any anagrams?

8a Vulcan is another setter in the Guardian. It’s perhaps a bit unfair to expect new solvers to know that.

…the definition is “Vulcan, say” (as an example)

It is not SETTER apparently due to wrong number of letters.

But you are on the right track. Just think of a synonym

17a is an anagram by the way - one of the words in the clue + 1 letter
