Female introduced by one goddess or another, I know the answer is ATHENE, but can't parse, I can see A HEN as one female , but TE ??

ATE is the Greek goddess of mischief, so it’s HEN in ATE to give AT(HEN)E

ATE is also a Goddess and so goes around HEN as you say, for "female".
