Just a quick recommendation (and commendation) for Ifor’s fine “Mixed Doubles”. Great construction and fine, challenging clues as always with this masterly setter.

Thanks for the heads-up, Jack Aubrey. I usually get to EV on Tuesday afternoon. A splendid run recently. By the way, if you haven't seen it, Last week's Inquisitor by eXternal is a belter.

As always a well constructed and well clued puzzle from Ifor. I had to work back from a couple of the greyed entries to solve the clues.

I have very high expectations when I see Ifor's name at the top of a puzzle, and by his elevated standards I found this one disappointing. The grid construction was top quality, of course, but to finish the puzzle without having solved 12 clues (almost a third of the total) was distinctly unsatisfactory, and the challenge overall could hardly be described as demanding.

...oops, my mistake - it was only 10 clues that remained unsolved.
