I feel the first letter should be B, but Google is only finding the answer with the M. Is it a mistake?

I have an answer with M

...but where does the M come from? I think the setter has confused MA with BA!

I suppose bachelor could just be M for Male?

One possible interpretation, although it stretches the bounds of complexity, is that 'master' can mean an unmarried young man i.e. bachelor, and that this word master has then been clued as the academic MAster
