Nifty puzzle, Jono, thanks. I was slow to get #4, looking for a word for 'simple form', where I could replace a U with a G 🙄

Funny you should mention 4, Mattrom. My mystery test solver (who shall remain nameless) wasn't keen on Juliet appearing at the end of the wordplay like that, but I was too invested in the 'Romeo and Juliet' idea to change it :-)
