16A- Typo

"Painter has message at three points"
letters 1,3 & 5 known. 4,5 &6 exactly match clue.
There is a perfect answer IF one word in the clue is misspelt. (As it stands, it is another word correctly spelt.)
Is that possible, or even common? I guess no person checks any more and they rely on Microsoft or Grammarly to alert to typos.

Metro often has errors and the same clues are circulated in a lot of free papers

I know that Metro crosswords used to be repeats, puzzles that had previously appeared in other publications. If this was one of those, I wonder if the simple (but telling) typo appeared in an earlier incarnation?
