Hi.

For novelty in all quarters at least once = N-W-E-S. Probably Newness. All quarters = NEWS?? Can't figure owt else..

Devoted bishop choked by tobacco = -E-D-D. I'm assuming tobacco = weed. I can't find any two letter abbreviation for Bishop. Welded? Wedded?

DD = Doctor of Divinity. I think all quarters is referring to points of the compass.

I think jrnny was right with,DD = Doctor of Divinity.
DD inside weed = wedded.
Somebody devoted to something (eg a job)is said to be married/wedded to it.
