This was a welcome respite from the travails of this week's Listener, so thank to Nudd for a most enjoyable puzzle.

Fun fact: the creator's father was a General Practitioner in Barking and Havering and was one of the GP's whose payments and superannuation I calculated as part of my first job after college (Really Bren, how thrilling - please, do tell us more Zzzzzzz 🥱)

This was a lot of fun, nice to have one done in a couple of hours and loved the theme.
My only advice is that it would have been solved so much faster if I actually looked for the hidden words before I was pretty much complete.

There's just one clue where I have the answer but can't parse it:

Cross over square entrances (5)

When I was at Uni (a very long time ago) it seemed that almost all of my contemporaries had a copy of this work on their shelves. Thanks to Nudd for 36d-ing some memories.
