Aristo, I had to Google the name with the last part of one of the down entries. A new connection for me.

Aristo, I circled the letters in the grid that got inserted into the lift. When I read those circled letters in order from left to right, I got the desired word (which is scrambled in the lift).

[Actually I inferred the word from about 2/3 of the letters in the lift without using the recipe, but the above procedure works.]

Ah, of course. Thanks, geeker. I said I was prepared to be embarrassed. Great puzzle.
