147 points is the maximum one can score in a snooker break without any fouls.

*There has been a few 155's, which included fouls. I could explain it, but you're probably bored already.

coincidentally i was discussing this with a couple of snooker-playing friends earlier this week (i had just seen ding's 147). they agreed that 155 was the theoretical maximum, but couldn't think of anyone who had done it. they would be impressed if i could tell them!]
