I'm surprised no-one has mentioned a problem with 8d, which would have been a great clue had it not been for the superfluous S (which wasn't even a crosser) at the end of the answer. I mean, who ever says that word with an s at the end? It's like sheep - the plural is the same as the singular.

I think it works more like fish than sheep - one fishes, several fishes, lots of fish
one drink, several drinks, lots of drink
one (answer), several (answers), lots of (answers)
