It's typical of the cavalier disregard English people have for what adopted foreign phrases actually mean. The same people would probably order a "latte" in a coffee shop.

Well said Grum (97). I had some misgivings about some of the clues but there's no need for somewhat insulting comments about the setter.

Dropped in for help with parsing 23d, to find that about half the comments are about it?

Someone asked about the clue for 13a and I didn't see a reply. It's a double definition, the second being all but the first word.

I enjoyed this. Boatman is certainly very fond of his alternate letters, gutted words and extremes. Found most of it on the easier side apart from 6 and 23 and 23 was most definitely the LOI and needed help from here.

As a former chemist I loved 23d. Unfortunately it didn't help me with last week's wonderful periodical table theme
