Nearly there! Full grid. Help with parsing 27d please. Struggling to get last word of instruction.

27d - 1st word adjustment for the filling - two single letter abbrevs on the outside (answer is an alt. spelling).

Perhaps look again at the adjustment for 28d if the last word isn't obvious.

pls can someone provide hint for 5d - i think the extra letter is in 4th word, as that seems to be the only way to make a coherent message.

The hooligan is Scottish, and the letter is in the fourth word. The shortened word is a synonym of degree
