"Cannonball" is the term I (American) always heard/used for the swimming pool splash. I briefly considered a related clue but came up empty. "Belly flops" I recall as being mostly unintentional and potentially painful.

Buddy, before posting my clue I had the 'climbing mountains' idea but got stuck with the 'sh', incapable of incorporating anything but the 'peace/quiet' definItion. It's no surprise that your 'extremes of strength' made the short list.

Jono, I was surprised to see that 'plash' is a word, though I didn't expect that it would be used.

Yes, a cannonball is quite unlike a bellyflop. You grab your shins and pull your knees to your chest as you jump.

Cannonballs were fun but not in a plash.
