Jono@11,

Same here - I'd convinced myself that "divorce hub" was 'O' and needed Geeker to put me straight :-)

"Divorce hub": every once in a while Americans have a cryptic GK advantage. ;-)

Yes, definitely knottiness aplenty! French, Latin, as well as names in Greek and Spanish. And 13 seemed of a different order of obscurity altogether - both in wordplay and answer. Still, I finished (thanks to this site's ever-helpful Quick Solve.

I've enjoyed this so far but the NE corner has me stumped. Any gentle hints for 5a or 10a? That might open it up. Thanks!

In 10a ‘symbols of power’ is the definition… and it’s another mathematical reference

5 def committee. good job surrounds 2 letters (can't be more specific without spoiling)
10 beuatifully misleading. def "symbols of power" in a mathematical sense

Ah I've got 10, thanks. I was definitely off track with the symbols of power. Not seeing 5 yet but will keep plugging! I've most of the crossers, need to crack 8 as well.

8 is cleverly constructed, though far from concise. Definition is "reservations".

Thank you! All done :-)

6d a new word for me and 13a needed Google but otherwise a steady solve.

I started well just after lunch filling in most of th west side like many of you. I found the east side decidedly more tricky. I've an answer in every space, but can't parse some of them despite having just read the thread.

20ac I got the divorce hub, but can't find the black American
25ac I still can't see how to parse the last three letters and agree with Chris about using the word "tiny". In fact I found a number of extraneous words in some clues.
3d I got the answer, but can't fully parse it.
5ac I'm not sure of the parsing here. What do the two letters in the middle represent?
8d was my last one in after 5ac and I can't parse it. What has Indian got to do with it?
18d Is this a homophone?
26ac can't fully parse it.
I didn't know 13ac, but my husband did and told me how to pronounce it. Needless to say, I can't parse it.
