Hi Feebee,

5d - 4 letter "unfortunately" backwards/rejected + 5 letter "wish" around /to hug 1 letter "county" - definition is "mayo's close cousin" (think food.

13d - 5 letter "jersey" (a noise it might make) + 4 letter "stockings" around 1 letter "posh" - definition is "MP's here"

Just to clarify Feebee, the 5 letters meaning. "Jersey say, are the same as a dog being 'barker'.

Only 16a that I can’t parse. I have a word that means serenity but can’t see the word play.

Very enjoyable puzzle. Some easy, some challenging and on the whole pretty much on my wavelength.
