Has anyone else found that, if using an iPhone, they cannot print the crossword downloaded via the 'printable version here' link that the Speccie provides? The print option is greyed out. It's a shame, because it used to work well and was convenient.

I emailed them to find out why this should be, but no response was forthcoming.

My workaround is to screenshot the page, crop it then print it, a couple of unnecessary extra steps.

Is it a Settings thing, does anyone know?

Do you mean it’s greyed out on the Spectator page or in your iPhone menu when you go to select print?

I don’t have this problem but do find that copying the link then emailing it to myself and printing from my desktop PC gives a better printout.

When I click the link it takes me to the crossword in print format, but the icon to take me to print is greyed out. It used to work fine, I suppose something has gone awry but I can't figure out whether it's at the Speccie or Apple/iOS.

Works ok for me on an iPhone. Have you installed iOS 17? If not might be worth a try.

I’ve had this problem and complained to them about it, to no avail. I go to the online edition via a web browser and use the link to the printable from there.
(Incidentally, I’m similarly frustrated that I can’t access the Listener from the Times app.)

If you’re not logged in it will show a 403: Forbidden message
