17D - "I would get into Russian car, being snobbish! (2-2-2)

Being 2 weeks old now I hope I can reveal what I think it must be, namely: "la-di-da"

I understand the "get into Russian car and I presume the "I would" is I'd but what puzzles me is why there is no indication by the compiler that "I'd " needs to be reversed as I always thought and have always found some indication when reversal is required. Is there something in the words "I would get" that indicates this or is it that the "rules" of compiling do not require this?

In every other answer in RT40 the clues do not seem to have any "flaws" in them but 17D does

Thanks

Try combining the i with the following d…

So it would be LAD I’d A

Surely I'd is not reversed. la-d(I-D)a
