I managed to deal with the many obscure references thanks to the generous cross-checking and an early guess - immediately followed by a new (for me, at least) discovery.
I enjoyed this one too - a great weekend for puzzles (I think).

I knew of the younger relative but was not over-familiar with their work so I learned something new. A good mixture of extra letters in the clues and extraneous letters from the wordplay.

I remember an early work of the second relative being a favourite of my parents. I had no idea (without Wikipedia) of the extent of the subsequent oeuvre (and not just in a narrow sense).

A well constructed puzzle, some rather tasty clues, the two types of extra letter generation kept the level of attention up, an interesting theme and the final stage of the endgame did not require endless grid-staring. So I’m with Drxx on this one. Thank you, Skylark.

I think the extra letter is removed from the last word of the clue, to give an anagram indicator for the last five letters. The whole is a German drink

It's always good to give the clue - then those without a copy can help, try to help.

Eiswein - I no longer have the clues, so can't parse it here.

Malone, sorry, I should have given it. It’s:

Sweet drink that is raised is new, Maud (7)

Thanks, Quisling. I always encourage the giving of clues, even in puzzles I've done. If it becomes the norm, then I'll get to see clues from puzzles I don't do, don't even see - from the Telegraph and the Guardian, say. (And I think it's good manners anyway!)

I quite agree, Malone. I’m the same, and it was remiss of me not to!

Thanks, Quisling. My nudge about giving the clue wasn''t meant for you! I was really thinking of the person, people, posing queries.. I do think the clue should be given then.
