Last two to get. I'm sure they're very simple. 28 a) Material aid for a blow job (4,3) ??T? ?A? 23 d) Mark Thatcher's first to get on the old wagon (5) T?A??
I downloaded the puzzle this morning and have a full grid now, but I'm unsure about 12ac, 'Balls up, plump and beginning to smell' (6). I've got ?L?F?S. I've entered FLUFFS, but if it is that, I don't understand the wordplay. Can anyone help?
If fluffs is the answer then, as ('fluffs' ≅ 'balls up'), the make-up could be 'fluff' ≅ 'plump' + 's'mell. Cushions can be 'plumped up' or 'fluffed up', yes, maybe?
