so, if I am right, the two missing clues create solutions that mean "bash" and "animals" and the two unclued words rhyme??

With you on 'bash' Prospero - I can't see what else it could be. Muraria and I guessed wrong with the 'animals', so still waiting for the final missing clues.

Yes - but the 'animals' could be 5 other things (or 4, now Claw has ruled one of them out). My original guess left me with just 4 possibles spread over two answers, so I'm no further forward.

Oh, and yes, they rhyme

Aah, indeed. Two more according to the Quick Find here. One a bit of an outsider. I was too confident earlier, thinkg I'd spotty a 'twisty' theme.

I would have liked it even more with the full set of clues but it was fun anyway - and a nice twist on a familiar theme (and good clues too, I think).
