Thanks to Shark for an enjoyable and not too taxing puzzle. The transform of the agonistes into the thematic statement while producing a whole new set of real words is quite the accomplishment.

Totally agree. Shark always produces a tour de force in puzzle construction.

All complete except for the highlighting. I presume I am looking for "I did I taw" compressed into 6 letters, but I cannot see it. A hint would be welcome.

Marvellous construction, as ever from Shark. How he even noticed that the antagonists and the phrase both split perfectly 9,9, quite apart from the real word requirement, is beyond me
