Many thanks all and to Tyke for the challenge and the prizes, great fun.
It occurs to me that ROSE and BORDER appeared somewhere else this weekend. Some of you will have seen them ;-)
To celebrate the equinox (and the now dead rose) I’m reminded of this short verse by Emily Brontë…
Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.
