Re paulh 13, is there a specific meaning to the term “on court charge” or “on a court charge”? Not in usage over here.

Not claiming special legal knowledge, but you can colloquially be 'up on a (court) charge'. (cf 'up before the judge or magistrate')

For better or worse my clue omits the indefinite article, as is often the style for cryptic clue conciseness.

Not sure how sub judice this all should be during voting, but happy to explain.
