I finished the grid, but I can’t figure out clue 17. Any hints?

Not sure which 17 you mean but 17d is:-

4 letter "drill" inside CIA all reversed/'retracted' = AEROBIC - definition is "kind of exercise"

17a - anagram/'novel' of MERIT A = ARTEMIS (Greek Goddess)

Sorry, missed out an S so it should be an anagram of MERITS A
