A nice puzzle. I liked the way the theme was echoed in some of the clues and one of the answers.

I agree it was a pleasant experience. There was no real need to pursue the removals as the resulting additions and where they were likely to appear were always clear to see. A welcome break from struggling with the Listener!

Thanks to Piccadilly for a most enjoyable EV and a welcome respite from the travails of the Listener.
