paul, it's a hybrid homophone/Spoonerism. The same device was used in last week's Everyman: 18 in Everyman 4006, where a strictly typographical letter switch gives a misspelled answer.

Though I considered it a dubious clue last week, if it was good enough for Everyman I suppose it can be emulated in a no-hoper here. 🤣

[@Paul/Geeker, I think it is fair to assume that Spoonerisms are always spoken so only have to sound correct. There’s another example in last week’s Azed where the spoken word is German so spelled very differently to the word you get just by swapping letters. Yet is sounds identical.]
