Good grief -not having a good morning !
Point was how does Ceramics mean study? Study means a room or something you read but ceramics is pottery .

What am I missing ?

Thanks Jono . Well as I said I don't even attempt IO but if you'd asked me to come up with some studies , I would have gone through the usual GCSE subjects, added in maybe A level subjects like sociology but would never in a month of Sundays have thought that Ceramics was a subject of study.
