Another lovely puzzle, one I can't parse and one I don't know.

Can't parse:

23d Writing about English initially attending Spanish carnival (6)
?i?s?a so I assume it's 'fiesta'.

Can't get:

36a Large shallow dish, a benefit the drunk may say (5)
a?h?t

36a ASHET, dish. Sounds like a drunk would say 'asset'

FIST is writing (as in hand-writing), the A comes from “initially attending”

Thanks both, didn't know that meaning of 'fist', and 'ashet' is a new one on me.
